Creator of Children’s Work Box
My name is Rosalee “Rosie” Massie. My first experience inside a library occurred when I was 7 years old. I was sent to a rural elementary school where the library was the size of a walk-in closet. It was the art teacher’s office, the music room, and the library all combined in this little space, but to me it was like “Disneyworld”!! I read most every book in that little library and craved to read more books. Books became my constant companion. I learned about people and places around the world between the covers of books.
I have never lost that love of learning through reading. And throughout the years I have had the opportunity to share books with children as a Head Start teacher, early childhood literacy instructor, coordinator of summer reading programs, creator of children’s literature curriculums, and as a storyteller. For the past 30+ years, I have been storytelling for libraries, daycares, preschools, elementary schools, various literacy programs, and my grandchildren.
It is my life-long passion to educate children through the inspiration of children’s books. Children’s Work Box is all about using children’s books as the basis for a solid foundation in educating children in a way this is enjoyable and successful.
